Kanha National Park
Madhya Pradesh State is blessed with Kanha National Park the land of the tiger.
It is India's best managed nature preserve for wildlife tours and tiger safari.
Kanha National Park is tropical moist deciduous type with predominately Sal forest.
It is the first tiger reserve under project Tiger Project in India. The area is
over 1,975 sq .km. Flora consists of bamboo thickets, extensive grassland and dense
Sal forest which are a habitat for over 100 tigers in India.
Wildlife Photo Tours
Bamni Dadar is key attraction of the Park known as Sun set Point it offers most
over whelming backdrop of forest against the sunset along with Antlered Sambhar
deer and Bison or Gaur add to the splendor. Tiger sightings at Kanha are frequent.
The wildlife is diverse with major fauna being the tiger, leopard, Bison, Swamp
Deer, Sambar and Spotted Deer. There are about two hundred fifty bird species in
the park. Kanha is a popular destination for wildlife tours and birding. Reptiles,
insects as butterflies abound. Kanha is about six hours drive from Pench National
Park which is again a big tourist draw for tiger safari and birding.
Other interesting wild animals are Bhasa or barking deer, four horned deer or chousingha,
blue bull or nilgai, chevrotain or mouse deer, Indian sloth bear, silver backed
jackal, Bengal fox, porcupine, wild hyena, Indian jungle cat, Indian python, peafowl,
black naped hare, langur monkey, mongoose, and panther or leopard.
The wintering and resident bird species in the National Park include large storks,
migrant teals, pin tails, pond herons, cattle egrets, peacock, peafowls, red and
painted jungle fowls, spur fowls, francolins, quail, spotted - laughing and ring
dove, plumheaded parakeet, green pigeon, blue rock pigeon, cuckoo, papihas, Indian
roller, little green bee-eater, hoopoe, racket tailed drongo, migrant warblers,
little blue and stork billed kingfishers, many woodpecker species, golden oriole,
barred jungle owlet, spotted and eagle owls, and paradise fly catcher.

Mukki Zone
Kanha Zone is a premium zone and the gate fee is higher. For all zones prior tiger
safari bookings are advised. The bookings are provided online at MP Online Portal.
Jeeps are available for park rides near all the gates. Elephant ride or Tiger Show
is organized in the park.
The wildlife refuge is closed on every Wednesday evenings.
